Ohio Youth Institute-SEE UPDATE (Cancelled)

The Ohio Youth Institute at The Ohio State University is designed to build awareness of global poverty and hunger issues through research and writing. Students in grades 9-12, working under the direction of a teacher-mentor, select a developing country and research a key factor affecting food security. 

This progam is part of the Global Youth Institute created by Norman Borlaug, a Nobel Peace Prize winner for his worldwide efforts in food security. Participants to the Ohio Youth Institute are named Borlaug Scholars and selected students have the opportunity to participate in the Global Youth Institute and Borlaug Dialogue of World Food Prize, held each October in Des Moines, Iowa. All OYI participants are eligible to apply for USDA Wallace-Carver internships held throughout the US, once they are in college.

The Ohio Youth Institute is hosted by the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Resources, with support from Farm Credit Mid-America. It is held at the Nationwide & Ohio Farm Bureau 4-H Center on the campus of The Ohio State University.
