The Ronald McDonald House Celebrity Steer Show took place on August 5, 2026, at the Ohio State Fair’s Voinovich Livestock and Trade Center.
The event brought excitement and energy to the show ring as 4-H members and influential Central Ohio leaders teamed up for a spirited competition. Held in partnership with Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) of Central Ohio, the Ohio Cattlemen’s Association, Telhio Credit Union, and the Ohio Expositions Commission and State Fair, the event raised critical funds to support RMHC’s mission of providing comfort, care, and resources to families with hospitalized children.
The Celebrity Steer Show features teams consisting of a local celebrity, a media representative, and an experienced 4-H member exhibiting a market steer or heifer. This year, 10 teams competed for top honors while raising awareness and support for RMHC of Central Ohio.
One of the participating teams was Team Buck Up, sponsored by The Ohio State University Alumni Association. Team members included:
- Molly Ranz Calhoun, president and CEO of The Ohio State University Alumni Association, representing more than 639,000 Buckeye alumni across all 88 Ohio counties and 157 countries.
- Bryn Caswell, a Central Ohio native and breaking news anchor for WBNS-10TV.
- Sydney Skinner, a 17-year-old 4-H member from Washington County.
Skinner is an active 4-H member who enjoys exhibiting beef cattle and market lambs. For this year’s Celebrity Steer Show, she partnered with Ranz Calhoun and Caswell to showcase her market heifer, Razzy.
In preparation for the event, Ranz Calhoun visited the Skinner family farm in Washington County,
where she learned about cattle production and Ohio agriculture from Skinner. During the visit, she also gained hands-on experience practicing showmanship with Razzy ahead of the competition.
Supporters of Team Buck Up and the other participating teams were encouraged to donate to RMHC of Central Ohio, helping raise funds for families facing medical challenges and extended hospital stays with their children.
The event also provided opportunities for young photographers to put their skills into practice. Ohio 4-H members Taylor Andrulonis of Delaware County and Carley Whited of Clark County, along with Sadie Holman, a 4-H alumna from Licking County, documented the event through photography. Each utilized skills developed through their 4-H experiences to capture memorable moments throughout the show.
At the conclusion of the competition, Team Buck Up earned the People’s Choice Award and raised more than $12,500 in support of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio.
