International Activities

Due to ongoing COVID concerns related to international travel, Ohio 4-H will not be participating in the States' 4-H International Exchange Program through at least 2023. Thanks to all who have volunteered, contributed to scholarships, traveled abroad and hosted youth and adults from around the world.

Interested in exploring the world through other 4-H activities?

  • 4-H Around the Globe (Project #92) Are you curious about other countries? This intermediate-level project takes a look at 4-H through an international lens, with close-ups of Ghana, Kosovo, Nicaragua, and South Korea. Each country's 4-H program is different, but the dedication to 4-H makes us all the same. Contact your county OSU Extension office to purchase a copy of this project book, or order online from our eStore.

  • Global Gourmet (Project #469) This advanced-level project helps you create delicious meals from Mexico, Africa, Japan, India, Italy, Greece, and Germany as you explore food history, customs, and nutrition to better understand our world. Contact your county OSU Extension office to purchase a copy of this project book, or order online from our eStore.
  • Ohio Youth Institute Dr. Norman Borlaug created this youth program of the World Food Prize, in which high school students research and write a paper outlining solutions to help address global food issues. Participants from around the state come to OSU in the spring to meet with faculty experts from the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences. They share ideas, listen to speakers, and participate in hands-on activities. Top students from the Ohio event are selected to attend the national-level Global Youth Institute (GYI) in the fall, which is held in Des Moines, Iowa. GYI participants are eligible to apply for international internships. The 2023 registration deadline is March 20 and the Ohio Youth Institute is set for April 17.
