Long term-volunteers must submit a routine background check in order to be accepted into the program.
A number of our volunteers serve as camp counselors for one of our many camps. If you are interested in becoming an OMK camp counselor see the link below, abd check out the Camping Opportunities page of the website for future opportunities. Don't forget to apply!
Counselor Applications for Camp Kelleys Island include:
- Counselors-in-Training(CITs) - Applications and references due by January 18, 2019
- New and Returning Camp Counselors - Applications and references due by February 15, 2019
- Reference Form - ALL counselor applicants are required to complete two references that must be submitted by their appropriate due date.
New/ Returning Counselors- February - March, or until full.
New/Returning Counselors- April

Other Leadership Development Opportunities:
To encourage leadership skills in our OMK camp counselors, OMK offers partial scholarships to for our committed youth leaders to attend various leadership trainings around the state. Funds are available in exchange for commitment at a minimum of two smaller OMK events or the weeklong Camp Kelleys' Island Jr./Teen Camp.
