Long term-volunteers must submit a routine background check in order to be accepted into the program.
A number of our volunteers serve as camp counselors for one of our many camps. If you are interested in becoming an OMK camp counselor see the link below, and check out the Camping Opportunities page of the website for future opportunities. Don't forget to apply!
Counselor Applications for Camp Kelleys Island include:
- Counselors-in-Training(CITs) - Applications and references due by January 24, 2020
- New and Returning Camp Counselors - Applications and references due by February 14, 2020
- Reference Form - All counselor applicants must share this link with TWO un-related adults who can give an assessment of the applicant's skills and abilities as they pertain to being a camp counselor. This is an online survey this year and no hard copy form needs to be mailed or scanned with your application.

Other Leadership Development Opportunities:
To encourage leadership skills in our OMK camp counselors, OMK offers partial scholarships to for our committed youth leaders to attend various leadership trainings around the state. Funds are available in exchange for commitment at a minimum of two smaller OMK events or the weeklong Camp Kelleys Island Youth/Teen Camp.
